Watson hopes to find form

All-rounder Shane Watson expects to be back to his best after a disappointing Champions League campaign when Australia take on South Africa in the first of two Twenty20 matches in Cape Town on Thursday.

The 30-year-old is looking forward to making amends after registering just 75 runs in five innings that culminated in New South Wales' semi-final loss to Bangalore in the CLT20.

"I wasn't bowling and I wasn't scoring a run," Watson said. "I was frustrated during the Champions League but it reinforced to me why I love being an all-rounder, because you've got two opportunities to have a decent game so it puts your mind at rest a little bit more."

Following a Cricket Australia directive, Watson did not bowl during NSW's campaign but said he was raring to go with bat and ball in South Africa and added it gave him a chance to take a look at the side's younger players.

"From a NSW perspective it was very enjoyable to be able to get to know a lot of the younger guys in NSW cricket," he said. "It wasn't the most fruitful tournament I've been involved in from a batting perspective, so that was very frustrating, but hopefully I can turn things around for this huge series that we've got here."

With pace bowler Brett Lee succumbing to appendicitis, NSW young gun Pat Cummins is likely to get a chance to impress.

South Africa also look set to hand a debut to a promising youngster at Newlands.

Hard-hitting batsman Richard Levi is in line to represent the Proteas for the first time, and is keeping his strategy simple.

"I want to bring out the youth and exuberance that the side has got at the moment," the 23-year-old said. "I want to put in as much energy and help out as much as I can around me. What is important to the team is a massive culture of helping the guy next to you so I'm looking forward to doing that and putting in as much as I can."

Levi burst onto the T20 domestic scene in 2008 for the Cape Cobras and also took part in the inaugural CLT20 competition in India the following year.
